Week 19 - 20

Hi parents!
What a great week! The Sven-Harry Museum was a perfect outing! We had a perfect weather, a perfect bus ride (close to school), perfect time span (45 minutes in the museum) and a perfect guide (Joshua - Alisia’s father) and we had the whole museum to ourselves as it was not open to the public. We usually ride too long, stay in the museums for too long and gather too much information that the museum visit often becomes more like IKEA visits. We learnt! The children had a lot of fun on their first fritidshemmensdag as well! The weather was amazing!

We have concluded our alphabet window and alphabet book this week. The children were very proud of their accomplishment. For the next week’s window, they will be assigned one letter each. The task is to bring a thing that starts with that letter. So the last window will show the whole English alphabet. Tom has visited everyone as well. You all have been very supportive in making both these activities a great learning experience. Thank you!

In the last remaining weeks of the school year, Lorén will be working as my substitute. I hope you remember Lorén from the month I was in India. Needless to say that she knows the children and the routines very well.

Today, being  my last day in the class, I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to each one of you for making this year a wonderful experience. This class is truly delightful! And so are you all! Not forgetting the thoughtful present of spa I received and the cards I am getting each day from our children! With a heavy heart, I say thank you and good bye!

Hi parents!
We are coming to the end of the mixed groups’ project. These 8 weeks, working in small groups, have proved to be most productive. The groups have worked intensively on reading, writing, geometrical shapes, the clock and the NTA theme – ´Can it float? ´ .
It is time for returning the library books. Please help your child to bring back the book next week.
I am going for my parental leave from the 16th of May, which means that I have two more weeks with your lovely children. There will be a substitute for the class. Though, at this time, we don’t know who it will be.

Week 16 - 17

Hi parents!
Letter I, this week was extra educative as we discussed the word ´Indian´ as politically incorrect reference to the Native Americans. It was explained with a story of the discovery of America that was then taken for India. As we have an Indian in the class it became easy for the students to understand the difference.

We were visited by our very own dental nurse Jenny, Sigrid´s mother who represented the Folktandvård to teach the class about dental care. They also received toothbrushes and post cards for being good listeners and a letter of information. Thanks Jenny for visiting us!

There is a mountain of lost and found clothes, shoes etc. that is going to be exhibited in the school´s auditorium for the whole next week before being donated. Make sure to take a look if you are missing anything.

Week 17

  • Letter of the week is Oo.
Highlight of the week : Tom has a girl friend - Snow White is her name!

Week 16 - 17

Hi parents!
We are working intensively on the letter sounds and reading this week and the next. The children have come a long way in their reading and writing skills. Moreover, they are working on geometrical mathematical terms, like corners, sides during their Math groups. Practicing at home will help them retain all the newly acquired knowledge.

The G window was great grand and glorious. Most of the children remembered to contribute to it.

The 100-teeth-party was a success. A Big thanks to Sigrid´s mother - Jenny for supplying the activity books to the three classes.

We had a case of stomach flu at school today. Be warned!

Week 16
  • Letter of the week is I i.
  • It is APT for the staff members on Tuesday the 19th of April. Fritids closes at 16:00.

Week 14 - 15

Hi parents!
Yet another successful week! Despite the bad weather, the Friday´s outing was a success. It was a well-organized and planned out educational lesson divide between the three services - the police, the fire and the public transport, meant to teach the 6 year olds how these department handle crisis and what the children should do in case of an emergency. Some of the children were concerned if they had a fire detector at home. They might be assured of their safety if you show it to them.
Everyone was at school on time which made the long bus ride to the venue least stressful! Good Job!

Week 15
  • Letter of this week is G g
  • As the preschool children have dropped 100 teeth, we are going to celebrate it on Thursday with a fruit salad and a short film about dental hygiene. It would be great if the children could come dressed in white if they want. You do not need to buy anything.

Week 16
  • It is APT for the staff members on Tuesday the 19th of April. Fritids closes at 16:00.

Week 10 - 11

Hi parents,
What a great turn out this morning! Thanks for coming! Hope you enjoyed watching the movies as much as we enjoyed  making them. The link to these movies will be sent out next week as soon as they are ready for publication.  We worked on the math concepts of half and quarter this week. You can help the children keep the knowledge alive by asking questions.

Starting next week, there will be major changes in the routine. We are stating with the science project – The big blue box project – Can it float? Follow the link below to know more –

This project will be done in mixed groups of FA, B and C. The class is divided into three groups of 8 children each. Each group gets 2 lessons of Science, Language and Math each per week.
We are going to start the annual spring reading of ´The Charlotte´s Web´ followed by the screening of the film in April.
The alphabet book and window remain on the same days. Letter of the week is ´Aa´.

Please Remember
·         APT on Tuesday the 15th of March. Fritids closes at 16:00.

The weather is changing but it is still important for the children to have hats and gloves.

Have a nice weekend!

Week 5 - 6

Hi parents,
For those of you who came on Monday, thanks for the participation. We are happy to know that the blog is appreciated. The summary of your discussions are displayed on the board in the corridor. Feel free to read them if you missed out the meeting. We celebrated 100th school day on Tuesday and the week was dominated by the number 100. From counting to ageing we talked about the things that we usually do not get a chance to discuss.

We finished our storyboard and next week we will continue working on the movie making process based on these stories.

I am on parental leave for 3 weeks and will be back after the sport´s break. A teacher named Lorén is going to substitute me during this time. The blog will not be updated during this time. Jim will be sending information if and when needed. Make sure that you direct your questions to him.

LICE!! – Please please please you must check your children for lice. We will never get rid of it unless we ALL delouse the children at the same time. Please treat your child´s hair this weekend!

Week 6
